Dr Alec Granville
BDS D Implant Dent RCSEd FICOI
Practice Principal
Dr Alec Granville has limited his practice exclusively to dental implants. He completed his Diploma in Implant Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (D Imp Dent RCSEd) in 2015 and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI). He has been accepting implant referrals from other dentists since 2015, over a decade of focused experience placing and restoring implants, from straightforward single-tooth cases through to complex full-arch rehabilitations.
Alec has recently begun the Master of Advanced Studies in Oral Implantology at the University of Zurich (UZH), taught by leading faculty including Prof. Ronald Jung and Prof. Daniel Thoma, and is the first dentist from Ireland to join the course. It reflects his commitment to staying at the forefront of implant dentistry, and doesn’t change his full-time, day-to-day presence at South Dublin Dental.
Alec welcomes referrals from other dentists for complex or higher-risk implant cases: full-arch rehabilitations, cases needing bone or soft tissue grafting, aesthetically demanding anterior sites, or simply where a second opinion on treatment planning would help. Using the practice’s onsite CT scanner and 3D-printed surgical guides, he plans and carries out implant treatment digitally from consultation through to final restoration.
Alec studied dentistry at Cardiff University, where he won prizes for best clinical cases and best final-year project (oral cancer research). He grew up in Donnybrook, where he still lives today with his wife Hannah (who is also a dentist at the practice) and their two young daughters.
